How does AKA work?

Kiteboarding today has become an accessible sport for everyone.

You don’t to be an athlete. No specific physical preparation is needed an age is immaterial.

AKA’s  teaching methods are designed specifically for you achieving maximum success in the shortest period of time.

If you love outdoor sports, wind and water it’s time to try kiteboarding!

In this article you will find how does AKA work, step by step!

HOW DOES AKA WORK? FIRST STEP

The first step is a quick theoretical introduction about:

  • Wind
  • Equipment
  • Rigging the kite
  • Responsibilities  on  the beach and in the water
  • Safety

You will learn to recognize the atmospheric conditions on the spot, to independently choose which tool will be best for those conditions, to prepare your rig and to use simple safety devices if necessary.

Kites

HOW DOES AKA WORK? CONTROL OF THE KITE

Once the theory is complete we’ll go in the water.

AKA instructor will prepare the right kite for you based on your weight, level and weather conditions.

You’ll be seated on the dinghy in complete safety, away from the beach and other riders.

After a short practical demonstration, AKA instructor will connect the kite to your harness.

Sitting on the edge of the dinghy you can begin to understand with me by your side

Step by step how to:

  1. Launch a kite.
  2. Land the kite.
  3. Neutralize the power in the safe position.

When you’ve achieved good control, you will be able to enter the water and start practicing body drag.

HOW DOES AKA WORK? BODY DRAG

As the word itself describes “body drag” means allowing the kite to carry your body on the surface of the water.

Using the control bar, you decide how much power to give to the kite.

The body drag takes place in three steps: downwind, crosswind and upwind.

Body drag is great fun to practice where you will have the opportunity to learn and improve the control of the kite. AKA instructor will be monitoring you closely from the dinghy and he will be able to help you in the practice and intervene safely whenever you need it.

Once the above is completed you’ll practice the self rescue system technique.

This is a very important technique to solve any problems technically, physically or weather, that may arise during the kiteboarding session.

HOW DOES AKA WORK? WATER START

After  completing your body drag training and have achieved good control of the kite you’re ready for the board.

AKA instructor will take control of the kite and you’ll enter the water. He will show you step by step the sequence of body and kite movements to get on to the board.

You will be comfortably seated on the dinghy and you will be able to observe everything closely.

Now it’s your turn: AKA instructor will be back on the dinghy and you will return to the water with kite and board to enjoy your very first kite boarding experience!

HOW DOES AKA WORK? RIDING
